Independent Interview: Emily Hollingshed

Welcome back to our Independent Interviews.

Today I introduce you to an artist who is starting to make a name for herself in her native  Oklahoma and who I had included in the artists to keep an eye on for 2025: the talented  Emily Hollingshed.

Hi Emily and thank you for your availability. It is always a pleasure for me to introduce new artists who are as talented as you.

Tell us about yourself: where were you born and raised and how did you begin your adventure in the world of music business.

I was born & raised in a town called Coweta, Oklahoma. And grew up in pickin’ circles with my grandpa & my passion for music started there.

What are your biggest influences? What kind of music should, the lucky ones who will see you live or listen to your songs, expect?

Old country & spreading experiences that I encounter are some big influences, starting from the bottom & making something of myself.

Listeners can expect stories & emotions of my heart & feelings.

Do you have a regular band that has followed you in the studio and also in concert? Or is it just you and your guitar?

My full band is with me in studio & concert.

But I do acoustic shows, aswell.

Are you ready for the life of touring always on the road and away from your family? Does it scare you or make you anxious to leave?

I am looking forward to travelling & sharing my stories with people from all over.

Have you only been to concerts in your state or have you already toured around the States?

I have played in my region, Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi & soon there will be many more.

I reviewed your wonderful debut, what did you think about the fact that your music can travel so far and cross the ocean?

The fact that my music is reaching different countries is insane to me and just shows me what all can happen.

How do you get the inspiration to write your songs? In your debut are there songs from your     personal experiences and maybe there are some that you are more attached to?

Different experiences I’ve had with different people.

Answer the phone is one of my favorites.

Do you already have new music in mind or are you focused on doing as many concerts as you can?

I have new music coming out pretty soon and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

It’s a golden moment for independent music: are there artists you would like to share the stage with? Or songs that you adore that you would like to listen to all the time?

There are so many wonderful artists I would love to share the stage with.

So many up & comers, too. (Can’t name any off the top of my head, because there are so many).

I like Alice & Chains, Treaty Oak Revival, Dylan Wheeler & so many more.

Thanks Emily for your availability, I wish you all the success you deserve, I personally loved your debut and I hope maybe one day to be able to see you live in Europe!
